JERRY SAUNDERS, OWNER/INSTRUCTOR

ABOUT

CORVUS Survival was started in January 2018 by me, Jerry Saunders. As the former US Marine Corps Chief Survival Instructor at the Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California, I led a team to rewrite and revive the survival program of instruction, resulting in the development and implementation of the most comprehensive survival training program in the United States Marine Corps. I also spent considerable time consulting on multiple projects for TV and film while providing coverage as a medic for cast and crew in harsh environments. Over the course of many years, I lent my services to other survival schools, law enforcement departments, and the US military. After much consideration, I decided to slow down and really start focusing on my craft of knifemaking. I now reside on a small homestead in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where I am still making knives focused on fulfilling outdoor needs. In 2022, I decided to diversify the “Corvus” name and started “Corvus Knife & Tool LLC.” in order to avoid confusion selling knives under the name “Corvus Survival”. Today, I’m living the life of a Yooper, constantly striving to make every knife better than the last while exploring historical designs with modern materials.

Your informative presentation highlighted the elements necessary for a successful outcome for flight crews during a downed aircraft scenario in a remote location. This critical information makes for safer and better trained flight crews and greatly increases their ability to survive in the wilderness. Your professionalism and instruction of survival techniques is admirable and greatly appreciated by the officers and staff of the CHP Valley Division Air Operations Unit.
